If you go to bookstores often, you will definitely come across a comic called “Petualangan Tintin” at least once. It is a European comic series which was originally written in French (Les Aventures de Tintin or The Adventures of Tintin) by a Belgian cartoonist Georges Prosper Remi under the pen name Hergé. The series is composed of 24 titles which are serialised between 1929–1986. As for the story, the series tells us about a fictional reporter named Tintin and his dog Snowy (or Milou and Milo in some other versions) who become involved in various thrilling and dangerous adventures around the globe. Tintin meets many unique characters which appeared during Tintin’s adventures such as the hot-tempered sailor Captain Haddock, the partially-deaf physicist Professor Calculus (Profesor Lakmus in the Indonesian version), the identical twins Thomson and Thompson, and many more. These are some interesting facts about the series which you should know whether you have read the series or not.

Ligne Claire

Ligne Claire or clear line is an art style that was pioneered by Hergé through Tintin. Ligne Claire gives equal weight and consideration to every line made throughout the page, mixed with strong colours. The style was accepted by many illustrators until now. Indonesian artist Hari Prasetyo (Hari Prast) used the Tintin art style for his illustration which supported Jokowi’s presidential campaign back in 2014, the illustrations are made similar to the Adventures of Tintin comic cover format.

Explored The Moon

Tintin and his friends are illustrated exploring the moon in 1953, sixteen years before the first men in history to walk on the moon. The comic itself was created with some in-depth research regarding moon exploration. The rocket was illustrated more similar to a rocket missile shape, in contrast to the moon exploration rocket used in reality years later.

Copies and Translations

The Adventures of Tintin has more than 270 million copies worldwide and has been translated to more than 110 languages.
